Client Background

DeltaMaker is a 3-D printer that is specifically designed to be put on display and used in everyday life such as homes, classrooms, waiting rooms and more. The four person team behind DeltaMaker didn’t want their printer to look like a “microwave oven.” They believed it was important for their 3-D printer to look great sitting still, yet would also be fun for people of all ages to use and watch. Putting their experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Aerospace Engineering to good use, the team developed the clean, elegant and entertaining DeltaMaker, ultimately creating a new 3-D printing experience for anyone to enjoy.  

The Challenge

In order to secure the funds necessary to move forward with manufacturing, the DeltaMaker team brought their 3-D printer to Kickstarter. While the team had no trouble reaching their funding goal of $107,000, they were struggling to gain awareness among DeltaMaker’s intended audience. That is when the DeltaMaker team recruited the crowdfunding experts at Command Partners to help spread the word about their elegant and entertaining 3-D printer.

Our Strategy

The DeltaMaker team brought on Command Partners halfway through their campaign to help gain awareness and increase momentum of the campaign. By strategically using public relations to secure press coverage and social media management to post daily updates and reach popular influencers, the Command Partners team spread word about DeltaMaker to relevant audiences to help them go far beyond their Kickstarter funding goal. The team also leveraged the Kickstarter platform to announce stretch goals and upsells to existing backers, as well as make status updates that encouraged supporters to tell their family, friends and networks about the 3-D printer’s campaign.

Services Provided

  • Kickstarter Strategic Advisory Services - audited the existing Kickstarter page layout and messaging including images, content, reward levels and video consultation

  • Social Media Management and Design - created branded Kickstarter-themed Facebook and Twitter profile designs, posted engaging content daily, interacted with fans and followers, reached out to relevant influencers, posted to forums and implemented new tactics based on analytics

  • Public Relations - drafted and distributed press releases, pitched relevant media contacts and secured placement with influential outlets


Both the DeltaMaker and Command Partners teams worked together to successfully go above beyond the Kickstarter goal for the new 3-D printer. DeltaMaker’s crowdfunding campaign raised a total of $152,597, which is 143% of its original $107,000 funding goal. The Command Partners team also effectively gained online awareness of DeltaMaker by achieving the following:

  • Increased DeltaMaker’s presence and fan base on social media

    • Facebook likes increased by 140% (505 likes to 1,210 likes)

    • Twitter followers increased by 109% (53 followers to 111 followers)

    • Reached 44,957 individual accounts and made 233,680 impressions

  • The Command Partners team was successful in driving the intended audience to the Kickstarter page through social media, press releases and media coverage, aggregating 1,583 total clicks on the link
